CONGREGATION BETH SHOLOM-CHEVRA SHAS FINANCIAL INFORMATION: FISCAL YEAR 2024-2025
The following information is presented in the interest of providing a clear picture of the financial obligation of membership in our Congregation.
Annual Dues
Dues include all membership rights in the Congregation, including High Holiday services.
Introductory Dues
Introductory Dues are for members who are new to congregation affiliation in the Syracuse area. The following schedule allows new members the opportunity to become acquainted with, and involved in, Congregation life before making a full financial commitment.
Year 1 Family: $150 Single: $100
Year 2 Give from the Heart Annual Dues Plan *
*After your first year of membership, you’ll join our Give from the Heart Dues Plan, which encourages financial contributions based on your gross income and the value you feel from being part of CBS-CS. We suggest a 2% minimum contribution (e.g., 2% of $60,000 = $1,200), but ultimately, the amount is up to you.
This honor system allows members to contribute what’s comfortable for them while helping sustain our vibrant community. Most importantly, no one is denied membership due to financial reasons—every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
Capital Improvement Fund
The Capital Improvement Fund supports the ongoing maintenance of our building and grounds, beyond the annual operating budget. Over the years, all current members, where financially able, have contributed to this fund, including the original building fund and the expansion fund.
New members are expected to contribute $750 to this fund over a five-year period, starting in the third year of membership:
Year 3: $50
Year 4: $100
Year 5: $150
Year 6: $200
Year 7: $250
