12:00 PM - 2:00 PMCBS-CSJoin our Scholar and Residence Keren McGility for a Lunch & Learn about Interfaith Marriage. This talk addresses this sensitive topic and challenges tenacious assumptions that “marrying out” spells the demise of the Jewish people by illuminating the ways in which the negative narrative was socially constructed. Using a contemporary gender historian’s lens debunks myths and provides a path forward for a strong Jewish future that includes interfaith couples and families in the Jewish community. Findings from Dr. McGinity’s books, the Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies at Brandeis, “Jewish Americans in 2020” by Pew Research and “Beyond the Count” by the Jews of Color Initiative.
