Tashlich

Sunday, October 2, 2022 7 Tishrei 5783

10:00 AM - 12:00 PMJamesville Beach - Sandpiper

Join the CBS-CS  community the Sunday between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, at the Jamesville Beach Sandpiper Shelter for Tashlich, our annual ritual of “letting ago.” Tashlich is Hebrew for “God will cast away.” The Tashlich tradition is to find a moving body of water--even a trickle counts, and toss all of the crumbs from one’s pockets as a symbolic way of letting go of the sin and error from our lives.

A range of approaches to Tashlich will be offered, including the traditional casting crumbs into the waters. (There are humorous lists of which breads are appropriate for which sins, so BYOB = bring your own bread! ) We will provide Tashlich liturgy for all ages, including children. This is a powerful ritual practice for children and adults alike; participants are even welcome to bring their dogs! Everyone is encouraged to bring a dairy-only picnic brunch to enjoy the October morning together.

Please note, religious school students are expected to arrive at 9 am.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
